 QUESTIONS

Pretends to understand the pain

Or have truly been hurt before?

Being sympathetic

Or also went through a rough road?

Wolf in disguise

Or a white lamb, honest and pure?

Just an act of kindness

Or a genuinely good soul?

Like a carousel, always turning

Or a stable hand to hold?

A tornado passing through

Or a rainbow full of hope?

A different person behind closed doors

Or really does have a heart of gold?

Questions we ask ourselves

Answers we won’t know for sure

Where to begin?

A question we often as ourselves

How can we even know for sure?

This is where the chapter began

Did it really start there?

Or was it just another end

Reading blindly through the past

Without labeling

Was each happily ever after

Really just the start of the story?

And each dramatic flare

Actually held no mystery

All the signs before

Were they included in this?
Am I over analyzing?

Or is this really just that simple, it is what it is

“I’m sorry”

It doesn’t heal the wound, it doesn’t help the pain

“I’m sorry”

It’s just two words, a single phrase

“I’m sorry”

Suppose to make things seem harmless, like it’s a mistake

“I’m sorry”

Hard to give, regardless of what it takes

“I’m sorry”

It doesn’t move mountains, neither calm storms

“I’m sorry”

Yet we expect the world out of those two words

Whispers in the night

Soft as a gentle breeze

Barely even there

Barely a sway of leaves

Cold as a misty rain

Or that of a winter’s eve

Leaving a shivering feeling

Or a gaping hole within

A deadly silence

Too loud to be ignored

Funny how what was supposed to be “peace of mind”

Now became a warzone

Faith often fades away

Hope somehow gets lost

Hurt always finds a way in

Pain often reoccurs

Lies often circulate

Truth nowhere in sight

Thorns always blocking a path

Fear instilled in our minds

Love eventually dies

Hearts break over time

Perfection will never exist

Being optimistic is really all we have in life

Remember those butterflies

They’re not there anymore

Remember those promises

Hopeless and empty after all

Remember those I love yous

When that was all I was hoping for

Remember the anger

Remember when you stormed out the door

Remember when all we had was nothing

But it didn’t matter anyway

Remember when we were together

But now drifted miles away

Remember the lies told

With no regards for feelings

Remember all the tears shed

And all the wounds that were opened

#AFTERALONGTIME
#FIRSTONEFORTHEYEAR

I love it when we make up back after our many fights
I love the way your eyes spark whenever you smile
I love the way you hold me whenever we’re alone
And when we steal our tiny kisses if my parents are home

I love when you make me miserable
Because you’re perfect at making me okay again
I love you because you make mistakes
And you’re not too proud to accept the blame

I love you even when you drive me crazy
And call me out for things I’ve done
I love you because you don’t expect the world from me
But accept me for who I am

I love you because you’re not perfect
You just try to be you
I love you, without reasons
Because I simply do
